Great Sticky Notes Activity to Create a Happier Life

Sticky notes + blackboard = Fun discoveries

Want to feel happier at work or in your personal life? Maybe a blackboard and a few sticky notes can help! Can’t see how?

A while ago, I stumbled upon a blackboard with lots of sticky notes o it. The theme was “creativity”.

I thought it was great, except that some words in the original didn’t strike a chord with me. So I felt inspired to create my own board, with words that resonate with me.

The words came quickly and represent what is important to me, in my work environment.

That’s when I realized that more than a few were missing in my job! And they also inspired the Learning Ninja blog.

So what matters to you?

Determining what’s important to you is essential for making improvements. Otherwise, you “kind of” know that something is bothering you but you can’t really put your finger on it.

There is just this general feeling of unhappiness, frustration or whichever word describes your situation best.

Only when you know what is missing, you can think of specific ways to improve your situation.

For instance, if you would like more connection, maybe you can find a project to work on with your colleagues.

Or you could ask your boss for an additional assignment to create more trust.

If you can’t imagine how your current job could ever live up to your expectations, it could be a sign that you should look for a better opportunity somewhere else.

Or you can create a side-project as I did with Learning Ninja, so you can add some of these qualities to your life outside of work.

You don’t have to quit your job. Sometimes it’s enough to find a fulfilling hobby.

This realization was just a by-product of making the blackboard.
I made it because I thought the idea was great and wanted to create a perfect one for me.

And it was so much fun! You can use different colors so the board looks pretty, or to put your words into different categories.

Don’t think too much about the words and just let them flow. If you censor yourself to look smart, the experiment won’t work.
You’ll get more out of it if you don’t think too much about it.

Would you like to find out what matters to you and have a great time?
Give this activity a try and create your own blackboard…

And don’t forget to share your experience.
