Others can criticize you all day long. If you don’t believe them, then it doesn’t matter.
But you have to shut up your inner bully.
You can’t let others poison your thinking even if it hurts what they are saying.
You know who you are
You’re a kind and helpful person, but you do have boundaries so people don’t take advantage of you? Guess what?!
Those people will probably complain that you’re selfish and NOT helpful!
Are they right? No!!!
You just don’t want to be part of their drama or do the crappy things for them that they don’t want to do themselves.
Does it feel unfair to be judged? Of course. Especially when you got a reputation you absolutely don’t deserve.
Don’t believe your inner bully
It gets dangerous when you start believing what others are saying about you. It’s bad when you talk down on yourself.
When you tell yourself
- Who am I to try this
- I’m not smart enough
- I’m too old or too young
- I’m not pretty enough
- People won’t like me
- This won’t work
- How could I ever make any real money…
…it really sets the tone for your life.
You’ve heard this many times, but imagine you’re talking to a friend instead of yourself.
NEVER EVER would you say a bunch of negative things to your friend and even less on a regular basis.
It’s crazy how we just accept that this kind of self-talk is normal.
We don’t even think about it. It’s on autopilot.
But once you get aware of this, you can check yourself and choose better thoughts.
Tell your inner bully to shut up and think about the things you like about yourself, the things you’re proud of!
What is your favorite thing about yourself?
Have you given journaling a try? It can improve your confidence, your mood, and your success.
It will change how you carry yourself, how you interact with people and eventually, how they will see you!
And be kind to yourself when you need a break. It doesn’t mean that you’re lazy or a procrastinator.
Treat yourself like someone you love
Let go of your inner bully and let’s all be kind to ourselves!
Modern-day poet Adam Roa says it beautifully “Treat yourself like someone you love”.
Imagine the person you love most. It can be a family member, a friend, a lover, anyone.
Close your eyes and feel how much you love them. How much you care about their happiness, how much you want them to feel loved.
Are you feeling it?
This is how much you should love yourself, too.
Treat yourself like someone you love. I’m pretty sure you’re not doing it.
Before I heard Adam say it and it really sunk in, it had never crossed my mind that self-love is supposed to be that powerful.
Never once have I thought of myself like someone I love. I mean like really love.
Let’s get to the next level and give it a try.
Love yourself for real. With feeling. Let’s see what happens with your life. Dare to dream…
Thank you so much for reading and have a great day,
Hands up, who is working on this, too?
Do you have a tip on how to shut up your inner bully?
PS: If you haven’t seen this yet, I highly recommend you watch this amazing video poem by Adam Roa. It touched my soul.
