It can be hard to accept, but the brutal truth is that you can’t control most things that happen in your life. So you need to focus on what you can control!
No matter how bad you want it or how much it’s driving you crazy.
And until you let go, this can be scary.
It can turn some people into micromanaging control freaks while others worry that they will never get a grip on anything.
But it’s completely normal that you can’t know how things will turn out.
No one can reliably predict what other people will think and how they will react.
The only things in your control are your effort, your thoughts, and your attitude.
You can come up with a great idea. You can have the best intentions.
Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee that others are going to appreciate it…
How to focus on what you can control?
The key here is to realize that you can’t control what other people think or how they are going to react.
And that’s okay.
There are plenty of reasons why they don’t get what you do or why they’re not the right people for you.
There’s more than only one way to reach your goals.
Don’t get blinded by your end result.
Your outcome is the result you want, like a successful career or business, a hot, healthy body, or the money that will give you the freedom to do what you want.
In the long run, the process is more important than just the result.
It’s about the great habits you’re building one day at a time.
Focus on what you can control. And that’s getting better at what you’re doing and expanding your skills.
Of course, you want your efforts to pay off at some point but with the right attitude, you’ll get there sooner.
Be patient but don’t wait around
Some things simply take time. Sometimes they can take a lot of time.
If you work consistently, improve over time, and stay patient you will get there.
But if you freak out because it’s not working right away and you give up….
Well, guess when you’ll get your results? Exactly – never!
You can’t control what others think about you but you can control your attitude and how much effort you put in every day.
Who do you think has a better chance of sticking to their vision?
The person who knows that you need to show up again & again and doesn’t get discouraged?
Or the guy who can’t stop complaining about how unfair it all is and who feels like a loser because it’s not going fast enough?
“The two things in life you are in total control of are your attitude
and your effort” – Billie Cox quote
You are responsible for your success
Of course, it helps immensely when you have a mentor or an uplifting, encouraging circle to cheer you on.
But at the end of the day, it all comes down to your motivation and your willingness to do the work.
There are no excuses.
All the reasons you may have why you can’t be successful are really just excuses.
- I don’t have the money
- What will others think of me?
- I don’t have the time
- What if I fail?
- I don’t have the right network
- Now is not the right time
- It’s just not for me
- I’m too old/young
- It’s too hard
- Who am I to be doing this?
For all the problems you think you have someone else is already crushing it.
Because they don’t let these challenges hold them back.
They control their attitude and effort.
When you really want to succeed, you do it despite the complicated situation you’re in.
Because you don’t let it hold you back.
Control your attitude
Instead of getting frustrated because it’s not working, tell yourself that you will figure this out. Focus on what you can control.
Great things take time and you still may have lots to learn.
Or to build.
It all comes down to how much you want it.
Are you impatient and just want it now?
Or are you willing to work for it until you succeed?
Does this support the life I want to create?
This is a question you need to ask yourself.
Whenever you’re doing something, think about whether your attitude and your effort at that moment support your goals or not.
Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to be all work and no play.
It’s totally fine and important to relax, have fun and simply enjoy your time.
This is an essential part of the life you want to create, too.
Every time you’re doing something, ask yourself if it is getting you closer to your goals.
And if the answer is “no”, you need to decide whether you should continue doing it.
We do so many things without even thinking about it.
And some of those things can actually hurt us – and we aren’t aware of it.
Next time, just take a minute and think about what you’re doing.
You are in control, so don’t live on autopilot…

Make sure you focus on what you can control
In the end, it doesn’t matter if you think that your situation is unfair.
Being upset about it won’t make it any better.
Action will make it better. Working on the right attitude and putting in the effort will make it better.
The only person who can bring you success is you.
Control your effort and attitude and focus on the process of getting a bit better every day instead of fixating on the end result.
Let’s see how this works out for you!
